Alex - Playgrounds Magazine - A song about somebody being abused. I didn't know someone that was abused. I was, actually. Not by my parents but by someone It was when I was a lot younger. I didn't make that up. You would be surprised how many people have been abused!
Alex - Q & A on AlexMaxBand.com - "Somebody Out There" for me was coming to peace with something, something dark, deeply rooted in my past. I was no "little girl" as the song states, but I was 5, 5 years old and being badly molested by an 18 year old kid who lived up the street from me. This went on for 2 horrible years until I finally broke down and told someone. I questioned everything; Why has this happened to me? What did I do to deserve this? I didn't know right from wrong, I was just a little kid. Now I can't tell you what happened afterwards, but the song kind of explains that in the verses. Lets just say, things have a strange way of presenting themselves to you later in life. Something like that can haunt you forever if you let it, but it can also teach you the most important thing...that everything happens for a reason, whether good or bad, things are meant to be, and there has got to be somebody out there who decides that. Even though I would love to kick that disgusting person in the face who did that to me, if they were still around, I would probably first shake their hand and say, "Thank you giving me the passion to write music."

Don't panic; what you are about to hear may come as a shock, but it's true.
The Calling has broken up and Alex is going to go solo.
This is not a rumor, and it is not necessarily a bad thing either. This information is found on the Loft, the calling community where thousands upon thousands of Calling collaborate.
For those of you hyperventilating right now, Alex posted on the Loft saying this (this is the most information we have as of right now):
Hey all! A letter will come very soon explaining everything in detail, but here's a few of the most obvious questions answered, so you don't go too crazy wondering what's up!:
-The Loft is NOT disappearing; it will just be changed a bit
-I will continue playing live with the same exact group of guys, they're the best!
-Aaron and I are still as close as ever and might even be writing together a bit for my upcoming album
-I will ALWAYS play our favorite Calling songs in concert
-I will no longer be working with RCA/BMG, I will be working with a new major label
-I love you guys now even more, after seeing you all support me in this decision!
......Much more to come.....
I guess you'll have to join the loft to view more information in the next few days.
hint: Alex's loft ID is "Alex888"
The best thing to do right now is to give Alex 110% of our support, which I know you all will do.
